Twitter won’t block world leaders

Twitter, on why they won’t suspend Trump (or other world leaders) accounts.

Blocking a world leader from Twitter or removing their controversial Tweets would hide important information people should be able to see and debate. It would also not silence that leader, but it would certainly hamper necessary discussion around their words and actions.

World leaders are of course, completely allowed to block Twitter users.

At least there is clarity though, that if your in a position of power, then you get treated differently.

Theres been suggestion that if this is the case, world leaders shouldn’t be allowed to block individual others.

Its worth remembering that Twitter can do this as a private company, they can set their own rules. Its a private space thats treated as a public space, and we need to decide how ok we are with that.

Theres always another option.
